Visitor Parking

Visitor Parking is a live, immersive, site-specific multimedia piece rooted in contemporary dance that explores a variety of mental health challenges in effort to advocate for the recognition and de-stigmatization of mental health related conditions. Choreographed by Charly & Eriel Santagado in collaboration with the dancers, the piece calls upon mignolo's developing movement vocabulary accompanied by poetry, original music by Brian Curry and Teddy Hyde, set design by Andrew Lackland, and costume design by Bailey Benoot.

“I have seen a lot of dance, and I’ve never seen anybody sit in a half lotus position and dance as expressively as Charly did, and start to convey a language that was foreign to everybody but by the end of the performance we began to understand. I am blown away by your company - the show was amazing!”

“Visitor Parking by mignolo dance allows audiences to walk in the footsteps of a patient navigating a wide array of mental health issues. Her journey encompasses scenes of anguish, reflection, brazenness and honesty. In tracing this patient’s path, the audience is offered a lens of empathy; I felt able to witness the complexities the patient was investigating within herself and her life.“

“For me, it was a powerful, emotionally riveting experience. I was impressed with the depth of the presentation: the use of video, the implementation of many created sets inside a warehouse, the multidimensionality of the movements the dancers used, and the words and music that worked seamlessly with it to create an understanding.”
